This is a great step for soft shoe or swing beats. The more you cross the better it looks, but at some point the cross has to give way to speed. Arms traditionally swing side to side following the spanking foot.
Tip: To maximize the look of the step at slow and medium speeds, step as far out to the side as possible after the spank step (regrettably I didn’t do that in the video above).
